Planet Diversity was founded on over 34 years of specialist experience in assessing and supporting individuals with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Our journey began in 2001, when Jill — a dyslexic educator determined to create meaningful change — opened The Dyslexia Centre. Her lived experience and professional expertise shaped a new, compassionate approach to learning support that truly understands the needs of neurodiverse learners.
Our Story
The Dyslexia Centre has since evolved into Planet Diversity Learning Centre, a learning community dedicated to supporting a wide range of neurodiverse profiles, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ASD (including PDA and ODD). Every member of our team brings deep knowledge, empathy, and a commitment to empowering learners of all ages.
Our approach works: we are proud to have achieved a 100% pass rate across our Functional Skills programmes. These results are only possible because of the personalised, high-quality support we provide - tailored learning plans, specialist guidance, and a genuine belief in every learner's potential.
As long-standing members of the home-educating community, we understand the challenges families face. Many have tried countless products and services, often feeling overlooked or misled. Home-educating families prioritise their children’s education, sometimes at the cost of household income, leaving them vulnerable to companies who undermine confidence or overpromise support.
The Shine Learning Programme was created directly in response to this gap. We believe that specialist support is not a luxury - it should be accessible to every learner, regardless of financial situation, location, or learning pathway. Whether a child attends school or is educated at home, they deserve the tools, guidance, and encouragement to truly shine.
